Nursing Organisations

  • National Council of Maori Nurses - Te Kaunihera O Nga Neehi Maori. The only mandated body by Iwi to represent Maori on health issues.
  • Te Ao Maramatanga - New Zealand College of Mental Health Nursing is the professional body for mental health nurses.The Maori Caucus advises Te Ao Maramatanga on all aspects of practice and business.
  • College of Nurses Aotearoa provides a leading voice for the nursing profession on issues which affect nurses, and the health of the community. The College is committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and shared governance, this is articulated through a Maori Co-Chair and caucus at Board level.
  • New Zealand Nurses Organisation is the nursing union in Aotearoa New Zealand and a leading professional body of nurses. Te Runanga o Aotearoa is the arm through which our Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership is articulated
  • Nursing Council of New Zealand is the regulatory authority responsible for the registration of nurses. Its function is to protect the health and safety of the public by ensuring that nurses are competent and fit to practise.
